The case below illustrates a case whereby an implant has been placed immediately following the extraction.
Lost Crown
The crown for this tooth has fractured after years of use. Given that there is only a small amount of structure remaining- the time for it to be removed has finally come.
Immediate Implant Placement
After careful extraction of the tooth, an implant has been positioned precisely into the fresh extraction socket.
In placing the implant at this stage, this patient avoids the need for another surgery after they have healed to then have the implant placed.
1 Month Healing
The region has healed well, the implant is hidden under the gum.
Having allowed the implant time to fuse to the bone, we are now ready to expose it.
Gum former
We have the freedom to create the shape of how the tooth will fit against the gum.
Too narrow a tooth, and food will pack around the gum line, too wide and the patient will have issues with cleaning the region!
Gum healed and formed
The bone graft with immediate implant placement has successfully helped to maintain the patient’s original jaw shape.
Inspecting the implant and surrounding tissue
The gum has been formed and is healthy, we are now ready to fit a crown.
Implant Crown
Implant crown fitting. The shape, colour and fitting is confirmed here.
Finished Treatment
The screw channel used to secure the crown to the implant is sealed. To help easier access to the screw channel in the future, the colour is intentionally different.
The patient can now enjoy hard foods with confidence!
