Aim

With few teeth remaining, this gentleman began to find his lower denture more loose and difficult to chew upon. Following his referral by his dentist, we discussed options available for improving his chewing ability.

How did we achieve this?

For this case, a single surgery was completed, during which; the remaining teeth were removed & 4 dental implants were placed. We then used a temporary bridge for a number of months before constructing a new upper complete denture, and a fixed non-removable implant retained bridge.

With few remaining teeth, x-ray investigations are taken to visualise and trace important structures such as nerves

Immediately After Surgery

After extracting the remaining teeth, the lower jaw is reshaped and 4 implants carefully placed.

Golden Result!

Following surgery, the gums have now healed and the implants have fused to the jaw bone- ready to receive the final implant bridge.

Implant Bridge

The bridge is securely fitted onto the 4 implants via screws. This enables chewing with zero movements of the bridge, helping to improve comfort and chewing, A space is intentionally left at the gum margin to facilitate the cleaning of the implants in the years to come.
